Winter Field Day 2025!
A radio, an antenna and the great outdoors. Winter Field Day is a chance to explore what happens when we take our stations beyond the familiar comforts of home.
This sample story imagines a day of portable operating: setting up antennas, checking connections and sharing the excitement of a first contact. It illustrates how a future club report could bring an event to life; it does not describe an actual AI7HO gathering.
Whether you are curious about getting licensed or enjoy experimenting with a different setup, there is always something to learn. A field-day experience brings practical skills and good conversation together—one contact at a time.
A day of discovery
- Explore the essentials of a portable radio station.
- Learn how antenna placement can affect a signal.
- Think through power, weather and safe equipment setup.
- Practice listening, logging and clear communication.
- Share ideas and encourage someone new to the hobby.
